Can You Make $2000 As A Full-Time Blogger?

2000 per month blogging full time

I am going to go ahead and say without a doubt. Especially if you are willing to work full time.

Now I am going to assume that full time means at least 40 hours a week. And if that’s the case, and you are truly willing to work that hard then there is no doubt in my mind that you can easily (I mean almost guaranteed) make $2000 per month. Maybe not in month #1 but before you know it you’d be there.

There are just 2 problems with this question.

  1. In general there are very few people on this planet who are really willing to put a full time effort into something without immediate returns or some sort of assurance.
  2. You have to go about this the right way. If you just simply write for 8 hours a day 5 days a week…and do nothing else, then technically you’re blogging BUT no you probably won’t make $2000 a month.

That’s the bad news.

The Good News Is…

These days it’s actually easier to get started, easier to drive traffic, and easier to make a decent income blogging than it was 4 years ago.

Now I know there are a lot of people out there who are going to call B.S. on me and say blogging is dead. Or, it’s too late to start a blog, you missed the boat.

But that’s simply not true.

Now sure I’ve been blogging for a while now. So for me it’s easier. But the fact is, I’ve started 3 new blogs this year. Would a seasoned blogger start 3 new blogs if it were too late to make money blogging?

It’s also important to understand that while yes, there may be more competition than there used to be, it only means that the good ones are more valuable.

True story. Last month I sold one of my blogs for more than $28,000 because it was valuable. (Oh, and that $28,000 doesn’t count the $1200 to $2200 per month that this blog brought in over 24 of those 36 months.) And it wasn’t valuable because it had 1000’s of posts that have been on the web for 10 years. It had 86 posts and was only 3 years old. It was valuable because it provided in depth information related to a specific niche.

Quality of quantity is the new metric. Used to be blogging was all about creating content, content, content. Pump out as many 500 word articles as you can.

Now one 1200–1500 word article a week is all you need. Then just promote and re-purpose that one article with the rest of your time. See, easier than ever before.

And I certainly didn’t work on this blog full time. There was probably moths that went by where I literally did nothing to that blog except pay my hosting bill.

But you have to follow a formula.

Like I said, it’s easier than ever before to make money blogging online. It’s easier than ever before to drive traffic. And it’s easier than ever before to sell a blog for a decent chunk of change because Fortune 500 companies are only just starting to get on the blogging train. It’s just that they are calling it “Content Marketing” instead of blogging.

As a matter of fact, I would even venture to say that because big corporations are gearing towards content marketing, if you learn how to be a productive blogger, not only will you have the opportunity to make money on your own, from home (or anywhere else in the world), but your skills will likely be in high demand should you decide you like the security of the corporate world.
